OUR STORY
Bertram Frei began the mastery of sausage making by completing his butcher apprenticeship in the country of his birth Switzerland. Over many years, he lived and worked throughout Europe and eventually Canada, It would be a ski trip to Colorado, in Georgetown, where he would meet Mirka, who was visiting from Slovenia. Mirka soon returned to Slovenia and Bertram would further pursue and courted her until they were married in Europe. They later immigrated to the United States of America, the land of opportunity, and settled in Colorado, the state they met. Bertram and Mirka wanted to offer handcrafted artisan sausage and deli meats to the public, and would then open the Alpine Sausage Company in 1972.
